that's all for '08

Ok, I think that's everything! Hope you enjoyed the pics and videos, and many thanks again to Dave for throwing such a wonderful event. See you in '09!

misc

This one didn't make it into the slideshows, but I wanted to share it -- Nick as secret agent man.

Also, here is an old Bennington program from 1989 that surfaced in some of the sheet music. There are some familiar names on it.

karaoke 3

And here are the last two karaoke clips, both of "We Are the World." First, a particularly impassioned performance by one singer:

And here's the second portion. The end of this is particularly great, as the audience voices its opinion on the performance. (And again, I'm sorry I couldn't hold the camera steady, I was laughing so hard.)

Need A Hero?

This year, Camp David was two days after the presidential election, so it's no surprise that there was some political talk. Throw in some of John's margaritas and you get a terrific discussion of what it means to be a hero:

Schubert / shorts!

At some point during the weekend, a specific penalty was proposed for missing an entrance, and here's an example. Listen in particular for Cindy's commentary in the middle of it.

karaoke 2

The second batch of karaoke videos. First, "Killing Me Softly," in which Mike almost kills the Karaoke machine:

And here's Yellow Brick Road. Who knew Sue had such a range?

Finally, Cathy and I fight to not hold the microphone.

Verklärte Nacht

Ross suggested that we start playing Verklärte Nacht some time after midnight, which was great fun.

phytophotodermatitis

All I can say is this sounds pretty painful. Don't try this at home.

karaoke / showtunes 1

And here it is, the footage that you dreaded, the footage that you wished I had never recorded, the footage that will keep you from getting a job with the Obama Administration. (Luckily these are all password-protected, same password as before.) But they are good for a laugh. In fact, for several of them, I was laughing so hard when I took the video that the picture jumps up and down - sorry about that!

First off, one of our campers was sadly unable to join us for the karaoke sessions, even though she brought the machine. So she was kind enough to give us this preview of what she would have sung. It's pretty terrific:

Next up, a performance of "All That Jazz" - from memory. Sort of.

After that display, we went with some slightly less complicated lyrics for our next performers:

puzzle

One of the hits over the weekend was the puzzle Juliana brought showing a picture of Camp David 2006. We spent many hours spent trying to match up tiny pieces of body parts.

I don't know if was the margaritas talking or we were just puzzle-deprived beforehand, but some of us were VERY excited to discover it:

And here are the rest of Claire's pics, in one more slideshow.

volume 4 - Claire's pics

Yet another slideshow, this time with half of Claire's fabulous pics.

volume 3 - Cindy's pics

Hi again. Cindy uploaded a few pics to facebook, so I copied them and ran them through animoto, and here's the result:

(Same password as before.) Enjoy.

volume 2...

Here's the second half of my photos from 2008. Have fun!

(To protect the not-so-innocent, I password protected it. Check your email if you don't remember the password, or shoot me an email and I'll send it to you.)

2008!

Hi everyone! It was so good seeing all of you again at another fabulous Camp David. Thanks so much Dave for hosting yet another terrific weekend! This year was particularly memorable because it started just 2 days after the presidential election.

As promised, here is my first batch of photos, which hopefully you can see by clicking the box below. If you can't, just email me and I'll send you the slideshow directly.

As before, this is a group blog - any CD attendee can post, so feel free to upload your own photos. I'll post some videos and the second batch of photos within the next week.
